1. 할 수 있을 때 장미 봉오리를 모아라,
늙은 시간은 아직도 날아가고 있다.
오늘 웃는 바로 이 꽃도
내일이면 시들어 죽으리라.
2. 하늘의 찬란한 등불, 태양도
높이 오르면 오를수록
그 경주는 더 빨리 끝나고
지는 자리 가까이 이른다.
3. 나이는 처음 피어날 때가 가장 좋다,
젊음과 피가 더 따뜻할 때.
그것이 다하고 나면 뒤따르는 시절은
나빠지고, 더 나빠질 뿐이다.
4. 그러니 새침하게 굴지 말고 시간을 써라.
할 수 있을 때 사랑하고 혼인하여라.
한 번 네 절정을 놓치고 나면
너는 영원히 기다리게 될지도 모른다.

1. Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying:
And this same flower that smiles to-day,
To-morrow will be dying.
2. The glorious lamp of heaven, the sun,
The higher he's a-getting;
The sooner will his race be run,
And nearer he's to setting.
3. That age is best, which is the first,
When youth and blood are warmer;
But being spent, the worse, and worst
Times, still succeed the former.
4. Then be not coy, but use your time;
And while ye may, go marry:
For having lost but once your prime,
You may for ever tarry.
